Hi, I’m Maartje — travel creator, storyteller, and tea-loving explorer behind Sri Lanka & Maldives and Kids Go Travel.

Travel has always been a big part of my life. I started exploring the world with my husband, and later our children joined the adventure — together we’ve visited more than 50 countries. Along the way, I discovered how much joy I get from planning trips, finding hidden gems, and sharing those discoveries with others.

With Kids Go Travel, which I launched in 2023, I wanted to show families that adventure doesn’t have to stop when you have kids. Over the years, it’s grown into a vibrant community of over 25,000 loyal Instagram followers who share a passion for real, family-friendly travel experiences — it just changes shape. After our unforgettable trip through Sri Lanka and the Maldives in the summer of 2025 — one of the most beautiful journeys we’ve ever made — I felt inspired to share more of these two incredible destinations with the world. And with Sri Lanka & Maldives, I wanted to create a space that goes beyond family travel alone: a platform for everyone, from backpackers and couples to honeymooners, families, and solo travelers, I wanted to create a space for everyone dreaming of palm-fringed beaches, jungle train rides, and island life — whether you’re traveling as a couple, with family, or solo.

When I started planning our own journey through Sri Lanka and the Maldives, I realized how hard it was to find clear, complete, and trustworthy information.
